The
Philpot museum is located in the town looking over the
sea. The building was built by Thomas Philpot in 1600-01
and has now been completely renovated. The museum is fully
independent and run entirely by volunteers.
The museum exhibits many old pictures and photos of Lyme.
This early drawing of the Cobb
(left) from 1539 shows it being built from hugh balks
of timber. |
